Prescribed Laws and Rules 1. Laws, Rules and Regulations enforced within 1914 to 1995 are as follows: (a) India Motor Vehicle Act (1914) (b) Myanmar Motor Vehicle Rules (1915) (c) Myanmar Hired Vehicle Rules (1935)
(d) Road and Inland Water Transport Law (1963) (e) 1964 Motor Vehicle Law (The Chairman of Revolutionary Council enacted it by law No.17 in 1964) (f) 1989 Motor Vehicle Rules (The Ministry of Transport and Communications made this rule by Notification No.1/89) (g) Rules and Regulations for Registration of Vehicles and Issuing of Driving Licence (1994)
2. At the Government of Revolutionary Council, ‘Keep to Right Principle’ was started to apply as an important amendment in traffic movement. To implement that principle, the coordinating meeting was held in 27, October, 1969. At that meeting, ‘Keep to Right Central Coordinating Committee’’ was established. That committee made the detail arrangements to implement that principle in the whole country. At 6 am of Sunday on 6 December 1970, “Keep to Right Principle” was started to practise in Myanmar.
